Expanded eligibility for Queensland Japanese Encephalitis vaccination
In addition to those already eligible, JEV vaccination is now recommended and funded for people who: live, work or have a planned visit to Hemmant in Brisbane, and are at risk of mosquito bites.
Actions required from healthcare providers:
- Consider becoming a JEV vaccination provider if you are not already offering this service. Note, in agreeing to offer JEV vaccination, your clinic details will be listed on the Queensland Health JEV vaccination centre finder map
- Review the full list of eligible individuals and LGAs on the Queensland JEV website
- Update your screening procedures to identify eligible patients.
- Note eligibility for funded vaccine will be expanded to those at highest risk of JEV as required. The Queensland Health Immunisation Program will issue updates to providers and other stakeholders in line with eligibility expansions.
