My Health Record updates
My Health Record will be upgraded on 5 March 2026. The upgrade will include the following changes for consumers:
- The 7-day delay will be removed for X-ray reports for limbs (arms and legs). Once these reports are uploaded by the diagnostic imaging provider, they will be immediately available to view in My Health Record and through the 1800MEDICARE app.
- Other X-rays and types of diagnostic imaging reports (for scans like CT scans, MRI and PET scans, mammograms and ultrasounds) will be available to view after 5 days, reduced from the previous 7-day delay.
If there are multiple results in the same report, where different access timeframes apply, the 5-day delay period will apply to the entire report.
This builds on previous changes that lifted restrictions for most pathology reports. These changes will ensure consumers and their healthcare providers have better access to key health information when and where it is needed, marking another important step towards a more connected healthcare system.
My Health Record is a safe and secure system, and consumers are in control of it. They can manage important information, control what is uploaded and who has access to it, and see what has been accessed.
More detailed information about the changes and the impact for consumers can be found on the Agency website page for healthcare providers: Better and faster access.
You can continue to use My Health Record during the upgrade. If you need assistance at any time, call the Help line 1800 723 471 (Select Option 2).
