Changes to QHIP vaccine ordering process
The number of vaccines available on the National Immunisation Program schedule and through Queensland state-funded programs has expanded considerably in the last few years. Because of this, QHIP has changed the frequency of vaccination service provider (VSP) vaccine orders. All VSPs can now order QHIP supplied vaccines fortnightly.
Increasing the order frequency is intended to help VSPs better manage vaccine stock appropriately and reduce the risk of cold chain breaches. All VSPs can now order QHIP supplied vaccines fortnightly.
Key information:
- A new vaccine order can be submitted two weeks after your last submitted order date.
- If you have had a cold chain breach or require an early order, your fortnightly ordering date will be reset.
- The ‘doses required’ fields on the vaccine order form are now blank for all vaccines –VSPs MUST request the doses they require for the upcoming fortnight.
- If ‘doses required’ are not supplied, QHIP will contact your service to confirm or may decide on your behalf.
- If you cannot make a determination on the ‘doses required’ for the upcoming fortnight, QHIP can use past ordering data to help you decide.
- If you have sufficient stock in your vaccine refrigerator, you are NOT required to submit a stock on hand count or place a vaccine order with QHIP.
- For any ordering queries please email QHIP-ADMIN@health.qld.gov.au (If you'd prefer to discuss your requirements over the phone, please ask in your email for one of our friendly staff members to give you a call
