Clade 1 mpox case confirmed in Metro South Hospital Health Service

Queensland Health has been notified of one confirmed case of overseas-acquired Clade 1 mpox in the Metro South Hospital and Health Service region and is monitoring the situation. 

This is the second confirmed case of Clade 1 mpox in Australia. Close contacts of the current case have been contact traced and vaccination offered. Transmission risk in the community is considered low.

Reminder: pre-travel vaccination is recommended for anyone (regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity) who may undertake sexual risk activities during travel to countries with transmission of Clade I mpox.
