Shingrix supply update | April 2024
An update on the ongoing availability of the Shingrix (herpes zoster) vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
This week (dated 18 April 2024) Queensland’s supply of NIP funded Shingrix vaccine will be exhausted. The Australian Government, who is responsible for the supply of vaccines under NIP, has advised that further supply of Shingrix is not expected until May 2024.
Since Shingrix replaced Zostavax on the NIP on 1 November 2023, the demand seen in Queensland has been significant. Queensland Health will continue to work with the Commonwealth on Shingrix supply for eligible Queenslanders.
If you require any further information in relation to this matter, please contact immunisation@health.qld.gov.au.
