New Brisbane City Nurse-led Walk-in Clinic (WiC)

Opening at 316 Adelaide Street in Brisbane City on the 30th of September 2024

From Monday 30 September, Queensland Health’s nurse-led walk-in clinic (WiC) will be open on Adelaide Street for the assessment, treatment and advice for illnesses, injuries and conditions not anticipated to be life-threatening. Staffed by nurse practitioners, clinical nurse consultants and clinical nurses, the WiC can treat:

  • fevers, coughs and colds
  • earache, tonsils and sore throats
  • infections and rashes
  • strains and sprains
  • minor eye issues, cuts and burns and head injuries
  • gastroenteritis
  • urinary tract infections.

Patients who require care beyond the clinic’s capabilities will be referred promptly to the most appropriate service, such as an emergency department, GP, urgent care clinic or mental health service.

The service is free for adults and children from two years of age and older (whether Medicare or non-Medicare eligible).

The clinic is part of a new Queensland Health initiative that will see four nurse-led clinics opening in communities across Queensland where there is a high need for additional healthcare service.
