Important message regarding PrEP for s100 prescribers

Queensland Health is aware of a temporary national shortage of TD*/FTC (emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil) based combinations, which commonly used for HIV PrEP and PEP as reported by the Therapeutic Goods Administration on the Medicine Shortage Reports Database

Queensland Health have received advice that the National HIV PrEP (tenofovir disoproxil -emtricitabine) shortage is resolving, with stock levels expected to return to usual levels in the coming month. The most up to date information is available via the TGA shortages database:

The Metro North Public Health Unit recommends directing any patients that are having difficulties with obtaining their usual PrEP supply to the following website to ensure ongoing protection: Keeping PrEP'D During a Brief Supply Pause (pan.org.au)
